Safe diagnostic order
- Check official announcements. A new known issue or maintenance notice can make local changes unnecessary.
- Confirm the game is current. Close the client fully, let the storefront finish updates, and relaunch.
- Restart the PC. This clears stuck processes and completes some pending driver or system changes.
- Verify game files. Use the storefront's built-in verification rather than manually replacing files.
- Review supported updates. Install stable operating-system and graphics-driver updates, then restart again.
- Disable overlays and injectors temporarily. Test one clean session without capture, monitoring, or overlay tools.
- Reduce variables. Reproduce with standard settings before changing several graphics options at once.
- Record the result. Note the exact error text, time, location, renderer, and whether the issue repeats.
Stop when the problem is resolved. Changing multiple variables at once makes the cause harder to identify and may create a second problem.
Official and community labels
Official: launch announcements acknowledge ongoing performance work and document fixes when the developer publishes them. Follow those instructions first and preserve the wording of the original notice.
Community-reported: launch options such as -dx11 appear in player discussions about Fatal Error. They are not a universal official fix. A renderer change can alter performance or visual behavior and should be tested only after the standard checks, then removed if it does not help.
